چکیده

Introduction. The aim of this work is to summarize the up to now progress in a development of a FE knee model after a total replacement operation. There are also introduced ways of future development which leads to a dynamic model containing aside all three articulating bones and its replacements also simplified models of main muscles and ligaments. Whole this work is computed using a code Abaqus/CAE. Though there is a lot of types of knee replacements, the only way how to validate their quality is an experimental verification which can be quite expensive during a development. For such reason the FE analysis can be very useful but the problem is a lack of a commonly accepted model well simulating forces acting in a joint as well as mechanical properties of both tissue and artificial joint replacement.

Differences in the stress distribution in the distal femur between patellofemoral joint replacement and total knee replacement: a finite element study

BACKGROUND Patellofemoral joint replacement is a successful treatment option for isolated patellofemoral osteoarthritis. However, results of later conversion to total knee replacement may be compromised by periprosthetic bone loss. Previous clinical studies have demonstrated a decrease in distal femoral bone mineral density after patellofemoral joint replacement. It is unclear whether this is d...

Development of a Predictive Finite Element Model For Investigation of Phases Behavior After Cold Rolling Process

One of the surface defects that arise in sheet metal working is when the part removes from the die. Since there are no external forces to make this defect, the origin of such fail is known as residual stress. Residual stress can develop in sheet metal forming due to non uniform deformation. In this paper, the workpiece is carbon steel with different volume fractions and arrangement of ferrite ...

Finite element analysis of the lower extrtemity - hinge knee behavior under dynamic load

A key goal of joint endoprosthesis is to become a full-featured functional and anatomical replacement. The joint damage may occur for several reasons primarily a disease of different nature and magnitude, resulting in gradual and irreversible changes and in an extreme solution in the implantation of artificial joints. However, there should be also mentioned accidents leading to joint destructio...
